1. Who can join?

Anybody can join! Most FSPA members are active in certified local chapters. Others are Poets at Large (PAL's) or Members at Large (MAL's)

2. Who are we looking for?
We welcome both experienced and beginning poets. We also look for those who are interested in promoting the reading and appreciation of poetry

3. How do I start my own chapter?
A new local chapter may be formed by a group of five or more poets who agree to meet regularly. Your group may apply to FSPA for certification, elect its own officers, decide on dues for joining the group, conduct regular meetings, and sponsor local activities. Some chapters within FSPA publish their own newsletter and anthologies, sponsor contests, conduct workshops, and participate in poetic holidays, like National Poetry Day, by reading in schools, nursing homes, libraries, and bookstores.

No. FSPA annual dues are $20, which includes membership into the National Federation of State Poetry Societies (NFSPS). Make checks and money orders payable to FSPA Inc. and you will receive a Membership Card by return mail.

6. Are there any benefits for joining FSPA?
Above all, fellowship and networking with other poets through the FSPA Forum. The forum is open to members ONLY. FSPA chapters also receive the quarterly FSPA Newsletter, Of Poets and Poetry (OPAP), and the quarterly NFSPS newsletter, Strophes. They also receive reduced fees on the admission of state and national poetry contests.

7. Does FSPA hold any state-wide meetings?
Ordinarily, two statewide get-togethers are held each year; the Spring Fling and the Annual Convention. The Spring Fling is held in April (which is considered National Poetry Month) and the Annual Convention is held in October.
